This blog provides resources and information for members of the Copyright First Responders, California cohort and general resources about Copyright that may be useful for users across libraries, teacher and student populations.
The Copyright First Responders (CFR) program trains library professionals and other cultural institutional employees in an immersive-style program that focuses on practical copyright law. Upon training completion, participants join a nation-wide Copyright First Responders system which is designed to provide support, community-building, peer-to-peer networking, and maintain awareness around current copyright issues. Members of the Copyright First Responders cohorts are trained to address copyright concerns, but do not dispense legal advice, to faculty, students, and staff.
The CFR program was developed by Kyle K. Courtney, the copyright advisor at Harvard’s Office for Scholarly Communication. Learn more about the Copyright First Responder’s Model written by Kyle K. Courtney.
